Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance launches 109 Challenge to help fund second lifesaving helicopter.
This September, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) is inviting supporters across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to take on the 109 Challenge in support of Mission Possible 2, the charity’s appeal to raise £500,000 needed to help bring a second helicopter to the skies.
Launched to mark Air Ambulance Week, which runs from 7 to 13 September, the 109 Challenge asks people to complete 109 of something meaningful and raise £109 or more. Whether it is walking 109 miles, knitting 109 rows, reading 109 pages a week, cycling 109 kilometres, baking 109 cakes or completing 109 acts of kindness, every challenge can help move LNAA one step closer to its fundraising target.
Funds raised through the challenge will support Mission Possible 2, LNAA’s campaign to fund a second AW109 Grand New helicopter. Demand for the charity’s service has grown significantly in recent years, and a second aircraft would help crews reach more patients faster, reduce missed callouts and give more people the best possible chance of survival.
Georgia Watson, Events Manager at Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, said: “Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a weekend walker, a keen crafter or simply looking to make a difference, there’s a 109 Challenge for everyone. Every challenge completed and every donation raised helps support our mission to fund a second helicopter, enabling us to reach more patients faster, reduce missed callouts and give more people the best possible chance of survival.”
The top fundraiser will win a three-night Center Parcs break in a three-bedroom Woodland Lodge, giving supporters an extra incentive to get creative, set their own 109-themed goal and encourage friends, family and colleagues to donate.
Supporters can take part individually, as a family, with friends, through their school, workplace or community group. Participants are encouraged to choose a challenge that suits them, share their progress and help raise awareness of the lifesaving work carried out by LNAA crews every day.
